Hygiene Specialist
Randstad are seeking highly capable and experienced Hygiene Specialists to join our mining client’s technical team and play a critical role in driving a positive hygiene culture.
Based in either the Adelaide office or on site, you will be responsible for setting the strategic direction and governing the occupational hygiene performance across multiple sites, with occasional site travel required.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert occupational hygiene advice, leadership and coaching to asset and line management
- Anticipate, identify, assess, recommend and verify controls for occupational hygiene hazards (e.g., dust, noise, diesel particulates, thermal stress, gases, etc.).
- Set the strategic direction for hygiene initiatives and risk management strategies
- Be accountable for the quality of hygiene data, statistics, and performance reporting
- Develop and implement robust exposure control strategies and deliver hygiene improvement projects
- Influence senior leaders to progress site-specific hygiene business plan initiatives and ensure the success of the exposure reduction strategy
- Govern, maintain, and improve hygiene-related standards, processes, systems, and procedures
- Oversee the occupational hygiene monitoring program, including the implementation of Real Time Monitoring (RTM)
- Manage unexpected hygiene events, including hazard assessment and recommendation of immediate corrective actions
- Contribute to building hygiene capability within the HSE team and the wider workforce
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Overriding commitment to safety and the company's Charter Values
- Degree qualification in Occupational Hygiene, Health Science, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field
- Proven experience leading change and delivering company-wide hygiene initiatives or projects, ideally within the mining or heavy industrial sectors
- High level of technical and practical skills in Occupational Hygiene, with strong experience in implementing effective engineering controls
- Preferred: Full AIOH (Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists) membership or equivalent, with Certified Occupational Hygienist (COH) status
- Exceptional ability to engage, coach, and influence multiple stakeholders at all organisational levels
- Strong understanding of health and hygiene-related legislation across Australia
- Ability to work autonomously while also thriving in a collaborative, fast-paced team environment
- Excellent planning, organisational, and time management skills
