HSE Advisor - Open Pit Mining
Randstad is proud to be partnering with a leading contractor in the mining industry who provide drilling, blasting and bulk earthworks for clients in the mining and quarrying sectors across Australia.
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced HSE Advisor to join their team in South Australia. This critical role is integral to the safe and efficient execution of their open pit mining rehabilitation and bulk material handling contract.
Reporting to the Mine Manager, you will be responsible for providing site inspections, HSE and project support, conducting incident investigations & reporting and monitoring compliance.
Key responsibilities of this role include:
- Ensuring mining activities performed are in line with company and statutory WHS policies & procedures
- Assisting operators and other personnel in the identification and reporting of hazards and implementation of appropriate controls
- Conducting high quality risk assessments with staff and management and implementing actions
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to health and safety and lead a safe culture
- Lead regular safety toolbox meetings
- Ensure all incidents are reported and incident investigations are conducted to eliminate hazards within specified timeframes
- Ensure all aspects of occupational health and environmental management, including monitoring and statutory reporting are managed appropriately
- Developing and updating company policies and procedures
- Ensuring environmental issues are promptly reported and resolved
- Conducting regular site inspections to identify and implement opportunities to improve health and safety
The successful candidate will possess:
- Cert IV in Work Health and Safety or similar (minimum)
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (desirable)
- Previous open pit mining experience with large mobile plant (excavator, dozer, dump truck, grader, water cart, etc.) is essential
- Strong computing skills
- Excellent time management and presentation skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- A friendly, collaborative and results oriented personality
- Highly technical and detailed oriented
- Energetic with a positive, can-do attitude
Candidates must be willing and eager to perform at our clients' high standards and energy. Only candidates with previous surface mining and large mining machinery experience will be considered
This role is offered on a DIDO 8/6 roster. Site location is approximately 2 hours drive East of Adelaide SA in the Murray Mallee region. Candidates must have reliable transport, live within reasonable commuting distance and be able to drive to/from site each swing. Modern site camp accommodation provided.
