Are you organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with fresh seafood? We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Shellfish Sampling Officer to join our team on a casual basis, playing a vital role in coordinating and processing shellfish samples for essential monitoring programs. Works are to be carried out across Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in Adelaide City laboratory, with the occasional requirement to drive to other sites.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accurately receive, prepare, pack, and coordinate the timely delivery of shellfish samples (e.g., oysters, pippies) to designated locations.
• Perform physical processing of samples, including shucking oysters and pippies to monitor their condition
• Occasionally, you may be required to drive to other laboratory facilities or field sites within the region, accompanied by co-workers, to transport samples or assist with site coordination.

Requirements:

• Previous experience in a laboratory, food processing environment, or handling seafood is highly desirable, but training will be provided. (must be able to handle the smell of fish)
• Reliable transport to various locations
• Valid Police Check
