The Council Gardener is responsible for the high-standard maintenance of public green spaces, ensuring parks, verges, and civic gardens are safe and visually appealing. This role focuses heavily on turf management and precision hedging to maintain the professional image of the Council.

• Specialized Mowing: Operating ride-on mowers and commercial zero-turns to maintain large open spaces, sports fields, and roadside verges.

• Turf Maintenance: Hand-mowing and precision edging around trees, monuments, and playground equipment.

• Hedging & Pruning: Expert use of petrol and battery-powered hedgetrimmers to maintain formal hedges, shrubs, and screening plants.

• Site Clearance: Clearing clippings and debris using blowers to ensure footpaths and roads are left clean.

• Equipment Care: Performing daily pre-start checks and basic maintenance on mowers, trimmers, and council vehicles.

• Safety Management: Setting up traffic cones or signage when mowing near roads or high-pedestrian areas.
