Are you an experienced fleet professional looking for a new challenge within a dedicated local government team? We are seeking a motivated individual to coordinate our fleet management functions and ensure our operational assets remain fit for purpose.
The Role
In this pivotal position, you will oversee the procurement, disposal, and operational activities for all fleet and plant assets. You will be responsible for developing technical specifications, managing related contracts, and providing essential support to end users. Your expertise will guide the development of our fleet strategy, including a rolling ten year replacement program and the management of associated capital and operating budgets.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate all procurement and disposal activities for fleet and plant assets.
Develop and implement fleet systems and procedures to ensure legislative compliance.
Prepare and monitor annual capital expenditure plans and internal hire rates.
Supervise staff by effectively coordinating workloads and managing performance.
Investigate accidents or incidents involving plant and vehicles to implement corrective actions.
Maintain accurate databases and provide detailed reports on fleet performance.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess extensive experience in fleet management disciplines and a proven ability to manage complex budgets. You should have:
An IPWEA Fleet Management Certificate or an equivalent qualification, or significant relevant experience.
Demonstrated experience in whole of life costing analysis and the preparation of contract documentation.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to forecast organisational needs.
Excellent communication skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
A sound understanding of health and safety requirements and diversity principles.
Knowledge of local government purchasing policies and chain of responsibility laws is highly desirable.
