Randstad has partnered with one of Australia’s leading privately-owned manufacturing and distribution companies.
They are looking for a skilled Maintenance Fitter to join their high-performing team. This is an opportunity to work with industry-leading machinery that processes steel for Australia's largest infrastructure and construction projects.
The Role
As a Maintenance Fitter, you will be the mechanical backbone of the steel processing facility. Your primary focus will be ensuring the reliability and efficiency of high-speed automated machines that cut, bend, and shape steel reinforcement bars and mesh.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute scheduled maintenance programs on automated steel processing equipment (e.g., Schnell bending machines, mesh welders, and shear lines).
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults to minimize production downtime.
- Fault-finding across hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical drive systems.
- Fine-tune and calibrate steel bending and cutting heads to ensure tight tolerances and quality standards.
- Assist in the installation, commissioning, and upgrading of new European manufacturing technology.
- Ensure all machinery operates within Australian Safety Standards to prevent reoccurring issues.
About You
We are looking for a trade-qualified professional who thrives in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
Requirements:
- Trade Qualification: Cert III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade or similar
- Experience in a manufacturing maintenance role
- Desirable: experience in steel processing, building products, or heavy automation.
- Experience in hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Experience with PLC-controlled automated machinery is highly regarded.
- Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and manuals.
- A proactive, safety-first attitude with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
