About the Role
Our client is a NSW government organisation based in Blacktown. They are currently seeking a Financial Accountant to come in and join their team on a temp contract opportunity until 18th September with possible extensions.
Candidates for this role must have:
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, or CPA/CA Qualification
- Strong experience working as a Financial Accountant
- Previous government experience (Desirable)
- Experience with Technology One System (Desirable)
As the Financial Accountant you will primarily be responsible for managing the organisations investment portfolio and financial reporting of grants, subsidies, reserves, and other contributions.
The role is expected to participate as a member of the Finance section in ensuring that the best possible systems and procedures are in place to enable the provision of quality, timely and effective financial information.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Statutory Reporting: Assist in preparing annual General Purpose financial statements and legislative special schedules.
- Grant & Funding Management: Account for and acquit grants, subsidies, and Section 7.11 contributions while ensuring monthly income recognition.
- Month-End Processing: Manage technical month-end tasks including lease entries, loan/interest updates, and subdivision restricted asset creation.
- Treasury & Governance: Coordinate monthly investment and governance reports, specifically focusing on cash positions and restricted investments.
- Ledger Integrity: Perform monthly balance sheet and rental income reconciliations, ensuring correct account coding and GST treatment.
- Operational Oversight: Supervise the Assistant Accountant’s workflow, manage internal bank guarantees, and support broader operations.
About You
You will be an experienced Financial Accountant with proven experience and reliability in previous positions.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, or CPA/CA Qualification
- Strong experience working as a Financial Accountant
- Previous government experience (Desirable)
- Experience with Technology One System (Desirable)
