Finance Officer | ASO3 | Adelaide | 6 Month (with strong potential for extension) Start Date: ASAP
Are you early in your finance career and looking for a place where you can truly grow? We are partnering with one of South Australia’s most respected public sector organizations to find a bright, motivated Finance Officer to join a team that prides itself on support and mentorship.
This isn’t just about crunching numbers; it’s about joining a workplace culture that values balance, collaboration, and development. You’ll be working in beautiful City Centre offices, surrounded by a team that we can genuinely describe as "lovely." They are patient, encouraging, and specifically looking for someone they can help develop over the next six months.
If you have a foundation in bookkeeping or audit and are ready to take the next step in a supportive government environment, we want to hear from you.
What You’ll Be Doing
As an ASO3 Finance Officer, you will play a key role in keeping the department running smoothly. You won’t be thrown in the deep end; instead, you’ll be guided through:
General Bookkeeping: Managing daily financial records with accuracy and care.
Audit Support: Assisting with internal audit processes and ensuring compliance (a great way to learn how the public sector works!).
Reconciliations: Ensuring the books balance and investigating any little discrepancies.
Reporting: Helping prepare financial reports that support decision-making.
Team Support: Being a go-to person for general finance queries within the department.
About You
You don’t need to be an expert yet—we are looking for potential and a great attitude. You are likely:
Fairly new to your finance journey: Perhaps you’ve finished your degree recently or have 1-2 years of experience in Bookkeeping / Audit and are eager to learn more.
Experienced in the basics: You have some hands-on exposure to bookkeeping or audit/compliance work.
Public Sector Aware: Previous experience in government is ideal, but if you come from the private sector with a strong desire to serve the public, we welcome your application!
Detail-Oriented: You take pride in accuracy and love a well-organized spreadsheet.
A People Person: You want to work in a team where kindness and communication are just as important as technical skills.
Why Apply?
Mentorship: This is a rare opportunity to be trained by managers who genuinely care about your career progression.
City Location: Enjoy the convenience of working right in the heart of the CBD—perfect for after-work catch-ups or lunchtime shopping.
Work-Life Balance: Enjoy the stability and structured hours that come with a top-tier public sector role.
Foot in the Door: A six-month contract with a major government department is a fantastic addition to your CV.
