About the Role
We are currently working with a local government organization based in Logan QLD. They are currently seeking a Finance Business Partner to come in and join their team on a temp contract basis until 30th June 2026.
Candidates for this role must have:
- CPA/CA Qualification, or Tertiary qualification in Business, Finance or Accounting
- Knowledge of Technology One System (Desirable)
- Previous local or state government experience
Key responsibilities will include:
- Strategic Planning & Forecasting: Provide expert advice on short- and long-term financial plans, ensuring project prioritisation aligns with organisational objectives and the Financial Sustainability Strategy.
- Advanced Financial Modelling: Develop complex scenarios, including Rates and Separate Charges and cost/benefit analyses, to provide the Executive team with data-driven strategic insights
- Performance & Risk Oversight: Monitor financial performance against budgets and conduct rigorous risk assessments to ensure the viability and appropriate funding of Council projects.
- System & Process Optimisation: Enhance financial costing and capital accounting systems to improve data accuracy and ensure stakeholders have timely access to critical financial information.
- Stakeholder & Conflict Management: Act as a senior Council representative, translating complex financial concepts for diverse audiences and resolving disputes to foster collaborative industry partnerships
- Governance & Continuous Improvement: Drive business improvements and maintain contemporary knowledge of accounting trends and legal policies to ensure all systems remain compliant and efficient.
About You
You will be an experienced Finance Business Partner with proven experience and reliability in previous positions.
The successful candidate will possess:
- CPA/CA Qualification, or Tertiary qualification in Business, Finance or Accounting
- Knowledge of Technology One System (Desirable)
- Previous local or state government experience
- High level interpersonal communication skills including the ability to interpret policy and provide technical advice to stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience in financial management, research, investigation, analysis and reporting on finance related matters.
