The Role
Reporting to the Senior Coordinator Events, you will be crucial in delivering the City's strategic community goals through a diverse events program. You should be well-organised, a strategic thinker, and possess excellent communication and attention to detail.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of the annual civic and community events program.
- Operational delivery of civic and community events, such as monthly citizenship ceremonies, flag raising ceremonies, commemorations, and general civic events.
- Providing on-site support for all event operations, including set-up and bump-out.
- Coordinating and liaising with event contractors for equipment and services.
- Supporting the Major Festivals and Events Team with their annual program (e.g., Granny Smith Festival, Christmas Celebrations, Lunar New Year).
- Consulting and liaising with internal Council stakeholders (e.g., Governance, Finance, Waste, Marketing) to ensure successful event delivery.
About You
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a strong background in event management.
Essential Criteria:
- A recognised tertiary qualification in events OR a minimum of 3 years relevant work experience in event planning, delivery, and evaluation.
- Demonstrated relevant experience in the development, implementation, and evaluation of events that lead to successful social and/or cultural outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience in all aspects of event planning, management, and delivery, including event infrastructure procurement and management.
- Excellent time management, attention to detail, and a focus on meeting deadlines.
- Thorough written and oral communication skills to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Exceptional relationship building skills and a collaborative mindset.
- A current Class C Drivers Licence.
- Willingness to get a WWCC
- Local government experience valuable
Desirable Skills:
- Bi-lingual language skills.
- Experience working with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Communities.
