We are seeking a high-caliber Senior Environmental Engineer for a 3-month full-time contract. This strategic role involves overseeing environmental compliance for a major waste management facility in South-West Sydney while leading a high-profile innovation project in the circular economy sector.
Key Responsibilities
1. Environmental Compliance & Governance
Ensure site operations maintain 100% adherence to the NSW POEO Act and site-specific Environment Protection Licenses (EPL).
Serve as the primary technical liaison with the NSW EPA and other regulatory bodies.
Manage and update critical documentation, including Environmental Management Plans and PIRMPs.
2. Technical Site Oversight
Manage complex leachate treatment systems and oversee surface water and groundwater quality.
Coordinate landfill gas monitoring and other essential pollution control programs.
Supervise specialized environmental contractors and ensure works meet safety and technical standards.
3. Circular Economy Project Leadership
Lead a specific, grant-funded innovation project focused on the beneficial reuse of recycled glass in infrastructure construction.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver technical trials and reporting for resource recovery initiatives.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Education: Tertiary degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: Proven background in landfill management, contaminated land, or heavy industrial environmental roles within NSW.
Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of water quality monitoring, leachate chemistry, and NSW environmental legislation.
Essential Licences:
Current NSW Driver’s Licence (Class C).
Construction Induction White Card.
