The Sustainability, Infrastructure, and Assets Group at West Morton is seeking an experienced Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulic, or Architectural Engineer for an urgent 6 to 12-month contract.
Driven by recent capital funding, this role is critical in driving the initial phases of infrastructure upgrades. You will step in to relieve existing Project Managers of upfront planning, taking ownership of project scoping, feasibility studies, and condition assessments for aging infrastructure to prepare projects for the market.
Asset Assessment: Conduct detailed condition assessments on aging infrastructure across various sites (pool vehicles provided).
Project Scoping & Feasibility: Write comprehensive feasibility studies and define project scopes for concept design prior to procurement.
Concept Design & Costing: Develop initial conceptual designs and prepare preliminary cost estimates.
Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, on-site maintenance staff, and the wider project management team to ensure seamless project handovers.
Qualifications: Degree qualified in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services (M&E) Engineering etc.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years’ professional experience, ideally with a strong background in facility upgrades, asset management, or infrastructure feasibility.
Technical Skills: Proven ability to assess aging building systems, draft feasibility reports, and formulate preliminary budgets/designs.
Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage diverse stakeholders and extract key technical requirements.
Flexibility: While primarily office-based at Wacol or Ipswich
Long-Term Prospects: 6 - 12 months +
Impactful Work: Play a foundational role in upgrading essential healthcare infrastructure.
