EL1 Senior Project Officer
Location: Sydney
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Length: 6 months (until 30th June 2026)
Pay: $70-$85/hour + super
Hours: Full time with hybrid model
Experienced & skilled Project Officer needed for a 6 month contract (with possible extension) at a Federal Government Agency. Within this role, you will be responsible for driving national quality and safety reform within healthcare. This position is at the forefront of implementing recommendations from the Royal Commission into Aged Care, focusing on developing and embedding core clinical safety standards nationwide.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Senior Project Officer, you will be responsible for the full project lifecycle of critical national guidance which includes the following:
- Strategy and Guidance Leadership: Lead the conceptualisation and planning of national strategies and guidance to ensure the effective development and adoption of Aged Care Standards.
- Expert Policy Analysis: Review, synthesize, and analyze complex published literature, data, and policy documents to formulate evidence-based policy direction and recommendations.
- High-Impact Communication: Prepare authoritative, high-quality written reports, policy briefs, and corporate documents for ministerial, expert, and public audiences.
- Project Governance: Drive comprehensive project management activities, including meticulous planning, implementation oversight, monitoring, risk management, and problem resolution.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a key liaison, consulting with clinical experts, government agencies, consumer groups, and industry bodies to foster productive working relationships and secure collaboration across all levels.
Essential Skills:
- Demonstrated high level of knowledge and comprehensive understanding of the Australian healthcare system
- High-quality experience in policy development at a national or state level
- Experienced research, strategic analysis, and interpretation skills, including experience conducting literature reviews and searches.
- Excellent writing skills with a proven ability to write high-quality documents that are tailored for diverse audiences (e.g., policy papers vs. public briefs).
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with multiple stakeholders
- Excellent project management skills and experience, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and proactively identify and manage risks.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in a health, policy, or related field.
- Clinical experience in a healthcare setting is highly desirable.
