Band 7 Senior Management Accountant needed on contract basis until November 2026 (with possible extension) to provide expert analysis on financial planning, investment prioritsation and strategic decision making within the department:

Financial Reporting Leadership: Direct the end-to-end preparation and review of
comprehensive financial statements, technical papers, and data-driven analysesPolicy Development & Governance: Design, implement, and maintain robust accounting policy
frameworks that standardise financial operations and strengthen internal controls across the
organisation.Regulatory Compliance & Interpretation: Monitor, interpret, and operationalise changes in
government legislation and financial regulationsAudit Management: Lead internal and external audit engagements, managing stakeholder
relationships and ensuring the timely resolution of findings through robust control environments.Team Mentorship & Capability Building: Foster a culture of high performance by guiding and
mentoring accounting staff, promoting professional development, and enhancing the teams
technical expertise.Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with diverse finance streams to deliver integrated
reporting and unified financial support that aligns with broader organisational objectives.To be successful in this role:
You’ll be an experienced Senior Management Accountant with proven experience and reliability in previous government positions. You will possess the following:
- Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related discipline essential
- Post Graduate Qualifications in Management, Public Administration, or similar would is desirable
- Familiarity with integrated ERP/finance systems and contemporary reporting tools
