The Opportunity
Are you an energetic Assistant Accountant looking for a role with more autonomy, variety, and progression opportunities within a growing business? Based in a modern North Sydney office (just a short walk from the station), we are looking for a sharp, detail-oriented finance professional to manage the end-to-end accounting functions for up to 5 key business entities.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Financial Manager, you will take full ownership of your assigned entities, managing:
... End-to-End AP & AR: Overseeing invoice processing, payment runs, billing, and basic collections for your specific entities.
General Ledger & Month-End: Preparing journals, accruals, prepayments, and maintaining accurate general ledgers.
Bank Reconciliations: Conducting multi-currency and multi-account daily bank and credit card reconciliations.
Compliance & Taxation: Assisting with the preparation and lodgement of BAS, IAS, and FBT requirements.
Intercompany Reconciliations: Managing the complex matrix of intercompany loans, transfers, and monthly balancing between entities.
Financial Reporting: Assisting in the preparation of monthly management reports, P&L analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations.
About You
To succeed in this fast-paced environment, you will need:
Experience: 2–4 years of experience in an Assistant Accountant or full-function Accounts Clerk role. Prior experience dealing with multiple entities or a group structure is highly advantageous.
Qualifications: Degree qualified in Accounting/Finance, and ideally commencing or tracking towards your CPA/CA qualification.
Systems & Excel: High proficiency in Xero and a bonus if you also have experience with Microsoft Dynamics as well as intermediate to advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables).
Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to confidently liaise with stakeholders across different arms of the business.
