Candidates for this role must have:

• Experience in asset capitalisation, disposals across multiple asset classes

• CPA/CA Qualification or working towards it, and relevant tertiary degree

• Experience in large, complex organisations, ideally in Local Government or public sector

• Experience working with large ERP systems

• Experience with infrastructure assets

Key responsibilities will include:

• CAPEX & OPEX Analysis: Perform detailed project expenditure analysis to differentiate between Capital and Operating Expenditure, ensuring precise allocation to fixed assets within SAP using BCC standardized templates.

• Financial Reconciliation & Integrity: Conduct comprehensive reconciliations of capital project expenditures to ensure financial data accuracy and alignment with project budgets and reporting periods.

• Asset Lifecycle Management: Manage the end-to-end creation of new assets, including the meticulous maintenance and updating of all related asset attributes to ensure a clean and accurate Fixed Asset Register.

• AUC Capitalization Strategy: Execute the capitalization of Assets under Construction (AUC) for major projects, facilitating the transition from "work-in-progress" to "active assets" in accordance with BCC principles.

• Cross-Functional Stakeholder Liaison: Partner with business and delivery areas to ascertain final capitalization values and provide expert guidance on the appropriate accounting treatment of project costs.

• Audit Compliance & Quality Assurance: Develop and maintain audit-quality workpapers utilizing BCC standard templates, ensuring all documentation meets rigorous internal and external compliance standards.

About You

You will be an experienced Senior Asset Accountant with proven experience and reliability in previous positions.

The successful candidate will possess:

• Experience in large, complex organisations, ideally in Local Government or public sector
