The role: APS6 Project Officer

Key Responsibilities:
Providing support to specific projects including:
- Undertaking risk management activities
- Maintaining project schedule and planning milestones
- Coordinating communications, including scheduling and documenting project meetings
- Managing administrative aspects of projects including project reporting, procurement, record keeping, financial support and logistics.
- Supporting the annual hospital cost collection pricing advice by:
- Preparing data specifications
- Supporting submission processes including data validation
- Supporting contract management
- Liaising with stakeholders
- Undertaking quality assurance processes
- Maintaining data security
- Reviewing and analysing outputs of the cost collections
- Reporting on results of cost collections
- Supporting the development and maintenance of costing standards for hospitals.
- Preparing agendas, procurement documents and meeting papers.
- Supporting the section with ad-hoc projects.
- Supporting the development of new costing methodologies, implementation and management of a range of costing development tasks.
Key Capabilities:
- Working to tight deadlines and responding quickly and flexibly to changing priorities with determination, confidence and attention to detail.
- Writing and communicating clearly to a high standard, in particular, the ability to write clearly and concisely about complex subject matters, including to general audiences on technical subjects.
- Showing initiative and demonstrating a resourcefulness to work both independently and collaboratively within a high-pressure environment, supporting a team with high workloads.
- The ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders, in both formal and informal settings, demonstrating well-developed interpersonal and oral communication skills.
- Strategic, analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to apply these when developing discussion papers or in support of new policy.
- The ability to evaluate the effectiveness of risk management and risk assessment activities.
- A familiarity with the National Health Reform Act 2011 and an understanding of the key pillars of activity-based funding, including counting, classifying, costing and pricing.
Desirable Experience:
- A working knowledge in a health-related field, accounting and finance.
- Project management or experience in data analysis and trend reporting would be highly desirable.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in a health, policy, or related field.
