...Are you looking for a front-row seat to Australia’s clean energy transition? As the Audit and Assurance Officer for Our Federal Government Client, you will play a vital role in supporting their governance and risk environment. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain insights into the industry, research, and government initiatives driving national change while ensuring Our Client meets its accountability and performance obligations.
Working with a high degree of independence, you will coordinate internal audit activities, manage information flows, and build strong rapport with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Audit Coordination: Support the internal audit program by scheduling activities, tracking deliverables, and maintaining audit documentation.
- External Liaison: Act as a point of contact for external auditors (including the ANAO and internal audit providers) under direction.
- Quality Control: Coordinate and quality-check responses to audit requests to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and consistency.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Track audit findings and management actions, following up with business areas and escalating issues as required.
- Framework Support: Assist in ensuring assurance activities align with the enterprise risk management framework and legislative obligations.
- Reporting: Prepare high-quality briefs, reports, and papers for senior executives and the Audit and Risk Committee.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be a responsive and organized professional with a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach.
Essential Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience in assurance, internal audit, risk management, or governance.
- Experience supporting or coordinating audits and working with external auditors.
- A sound understanding of internal controls and assurance principles, preferably within a public sector context.
- Well-developed judgement, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing briefs and advice.
Desirable Attributes:
- Experience working in the Commonwealth public sector.
- Exposure to ANAO audits, Audit and Risk Committees, or APS governance frameworks.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in accounting, finance, audit, or risk.
