Randstad is currently recruiting for an AO6 Senior Communications Advisor to work with the State Government on a number of infrastructure projects based in the Gold Coast.
In this position, you will oversee the delivery of external engagement services, encompassing public affairs, media relations, and stakeholder management. You will act as a key departmental representative in public forums and provide high-level strategic counsel to executive leadership and project directors. You will represent the interests of the department, and its stakeholders in all forums that actively engage with members of the public.
The pay rate for this position is at the AO6 level of $79.19 – $84.56 p/hr + super, depending on experience. This is a full-time role based in Nerang, with an assignment duration of six months and the possibility of extension. The assignment is scheduled to commence in early June.
Responsibilities:
... - Lead and mentor a small team of engagement staff to ensure the production of high-quality, consistent communication materials.
- Implement comprehensive community engagement and correspondence programs that support a wide range of regional stakeholders.
- Consult with project managers to identify potential communication risks and develop proactive mitigation strategies.
- Foster collaborative relationships with industry bodies, business groups, and representatives across local, state, and federal government.
- Maintain a detailed understanding of the major works program to identify emerging trends and engagement challenges.
- Provide expert advice to regional officers and management regarding risk resolution and external communication strategies.
- Represent the interests of the department and its stakeholders during public-facing engagement activities.
Key Requirements:
- A degree in communications, public relations or marketing or equivalent years work experience would be highly desirable.
- Experience in major infrastructure project environments and social media competency, will also be highly regarded.
- Training in IAP2 or similar public participation frameworks.
- To be eligible for this role, you must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or hold a valid visa with no work restrictions.
- Engagement is subject to a satisfactory background screening process; applicants must be willing to undergo a Criminal History Check.
