Rate/Salary: AO5/AO6 Equivalent $69.21 – $84.55 per hour + Super

The Role
Our government client is seeking multiple seasoned AO5/AO6 HR Professionals to join their team, focusing on Industrial Relations (IR) and Employee Relations (ER). You will act as a critical advisor to leadership, navigating complex case management and ensuring the department remains compliant with evolving legislative frameworks.
This is an excellent opportunity for a practitioner who enjoys "the pointy end" of HR handling intricate disputes, interpreting awards, and fostering a productive workplace culture during a period of organisational change.
Key Responsibilities
- Case Management: Lead and manage complex ER matters including grievances, disciplinary processes, performance improvement, and fitness-for-work cases.
- Expert Advice: Provide high-level interpretation of Awards, Certified Agreements, and relevant legislation.
- Strategic IR: Support the development and implementation of industrial relations strategies and contribute to enterprise bargaining preparation if required.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with Union representatives and legal counsel to resolve disputes efficiently and fairly.
- Coaching: Upskill line managers on best-practice people management to proactively mitigate industrial risks.
About You
You will bring a balanced diplomatic yet decisive approach and a genuine passion for equitable workplace outcomes. We are looking for a versatile HR practitioner who can navigate both corporate and industrial landscapes.
- Proven Experience: You possess a strong track record in generalist HR or Senior Advisory roles, with a significant portion of your recent experience dedicated to managing complex IR/ER matters.
- Sector Background: Prior experience working within the Public Sector/Government is highly beneficial and will help you hit the ground running, however, we also welcome high-caliber applicants from large, complex private sector organisations or highly unionized environments.
- Technical Knowledge: A robust understanding of industrial instruments and employment law. You are comfortable interpreting "the fine print" to provide practical solutions.
- Communication: Exceptional negotiation and conflict-resolution skills, you can de-escalate tense situations with professional ease.
- Analytical Mindset: Ability to digest complex information and provide clear, risk-based recommendations to senior executives.
