The Opportunity
You’ll work within a major retail distribution network completing 170+ runs per day across multiple shifts. The role operates on a 10am–10pm rotating 4-on / 4-off roster, providing predictable work–life balance while offering fast-paced, impactful work.
You will be at the centre of daily freight coordination, service delivery, and real-time decision-making that directly supports one of Australia’s largest retail partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Allocation & Routing
- Allocate freight across a high number of daily driver runs factoring in freight type (frozen / chilled / ambient / fragile), pallet weights, load capacity, route restrictions, driver fatigue risk and overall cost efficiency.
- Match freight to the appropriate truck type and driver capability.
- Maintain proactive, professional communication with drivers throughout shifts.
Operational Coordination
- Stay across orders being picked and staged to ensure schedule alignment.
- Work closely with internal teams and the national retail client to ensure seamless service.
- Monitor performance, timing, and any risks to the delivery schedule.
- Monitor driver compliance
Contingency & Incident Management
- Manage emergency resource planning for breakdowns, accidents, delays, or shortages.
- Re-route drivers or reallocate freight in real time to protect critical service windows.
Data Accuracy & Issue Resolution
- Complete accurate data entry across multiple transport systems.
- Use live data to identify inefficiencies, service risks, or scheduling issues.
- Resolve delivery or operational concerns quickly and professionally.
About You
- Experience in transport allocation / scheduling within a high-volume logistics or distribution setting.
- Strong understanding of freight types, temperature-controlled goods, pallet weight limits, and vehicle suitability.
- Ability to handle pressure, prioritise effectively, and solve problems on the go.
- Exceptional communication skills when working with drivers and retail stakeholders.
- Strong system skills and high attention to detail.
- Availability for 12-hour shifts on a rotating 4/4 roster.
