The Role

Are you a heavy-hitting Strategic Communications professional with a knack for turning complex legal and technical jargon into a sleek, defensible strategy?

Randstad is partnering with a major State Government transport department to secure a high-level specialist for a critical, timebound project. This isn’t just about "comms"—it’s about leading the development of an internal Industrial Relations (IR) Strategy and Roadmap that will safeguard a multi-billion dollar program.

Key Deliverables

Strategic Drafting: Lead the development of the Strategy, refining the narrative to ensure clarity, coherence, and defensibility.
Stakeholder Facilitation: Coordinate briefings and facilitate discussions involving competing perspectives to capture and synthesise feedback.
Roadmap Development: Identify and categorise strategic initiatives, prioritising "low-hanging fruit" that offers immediate benefit to the department.
Technical Translation: Convert technical, legal, and operational inputs into clear, high-level strategic documentation for executive audiences.
Risk Management: Identify emerging risks, issues, or alignment challenges during the consultation phase.

About You

This role requires more than just writing skills; it demands a consultant who is comfortable in an iterative, sometimes ambiguous, and highly sensitive policy environment.

Key Selection Criteria:

Expert Strategic Communication: Proven ability to lead and drive complex pieces of work with minimal supervision and high professional autonomy.
Complex Problem Solving: Ability to navigate evolving problem spaces and exercise sound judgement in contested subject matter.
Senior Engagement: Experience engaging effectively with senior stakeholders and executive-level audiences to drive consensus.
Structured Output: A track record of delivering high-quality, structured strategic outputs (strategies, roadmaps, briefing notes) within compressed timeframes.
Technical Literacy: Ability to translate complex policy or legal frameworks into practical, strategic principles and objectives.
