Role Purpose
The Senior Project Advisor is a strategic lead focused on driving business improvement, process optimisation, and operational excellence. You will diagnose inefficiencies, redesign workflows, and implement scalable systems that enhance how the organisation delivers its core initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Process Improvement & Delivery
- Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of business improvement initiatives, from initial diagnostic/root-cause analysis to implementation and embedding.
- Apply structured methodologies (e.g., Lean, Prince2, or Agile) to streamline complex internal workflows and eliminate "friction" in service delivery.
- Develop and maintain critical project artifacts: implementation roadmaps, Process Maps and benefit realisation plans.
- Monitor project health via performance metrics (KPIs) rather than just "milestones," ensuring that process changes deliver measurable ROI.
2. Strategic Advisory & Solution Design
- Act as an internal consultant to senior leadership, providing data-driven recommendations on organisational design and system enhancements.
- Analyse complex operational bottlenecks, identifying creative solutions that balance compliance with efficiency.
- Draft high-level briefing notes and business cases that translate technical process changes into clear strategic outcomes for executive stakeholders.
3. Stakeholder Engagement & Change Management
- Navigate the "human element" of process change by developing robust Change Management and Communication plans.
- Facilitate workshops and "Gemba walks" to gather frontline insights, ensuring that process improvements are co-designed with those who use them.
- Build strong coalitions with IT, HR, and Finance to ensure cross-functional alignment on new business rules or system integrations.
4. Governance, Quality & Compliance
- Ensure all new processes comply with legislative requirements while minimising administrative burden ("red tape").
- Develop and maintain a Process Library or Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure long-term sustainability of improvements.
- Prepare governance reports that highlight risk mitigation and the successful adoption of new working models.
About You (Selection Criteria)
- The Architect Mindset: You enjoy deconstructing a "messy" process and rebuilding it into something elegant, efficient, and scalable.
- Methodology Neutral: You are well-versed in project management (Prince2/PMBOK) but are equally comfortable with Business Process Improvement frameworks.
- Influencing Skills: You can convince a skeptical stakeholder why a change in their daily routine will benefit the organisation in the long run.
