About the Role

Our client is a well-know QLD State government organisation based in the Brisbane CBD. They are currently seeking a Senior Finance Officer to come in and work with them on a 6 month temp contract with potential for extension.

Candidates for this role must have:

• Advanced/Expert Microsoft Excel skills are essential. Experience with SAP (or similar ERP systems) is highly regarded.

• Extensive experience in a complex financial environment, specifically in accounts payable/receivable, cash flow management, and general ledger reconciliation.

• A degree (or progress towards one) in Accounting, Business, or Commerce is highly desirable.
  
  

Key responsibilities will include:

• End-to-End Financial Operations: Manage the integrity of the department’s global month-end and year-end processes. You will take ownership of complex accruals, general ledger reconciliations, and the preparation of comprehensive financial reports.
• Cash Flow & Expense Oversight: Meticulously oversee global cashbook and corporate card reconciliation processes. You will perform deep-dive analysis of expenditure patterns, proactively investigating and resolving errors to ensure fiscal accuracy.
• Global Systems Administration: Act as the lead administrator for critical departmental systems, including the Commbank Card Manager and Corporate Travel Management (CTM) platforms. You will deliver tailored training and support to senior executives and international delegates.
• Data Stewardship: Govern the creation and maintenance of domestic and international vendor master data, ensuring robust payment controls and data integrity.
• Governance & Policy Advice: Maintain statutory registers and contribute to the evolution of financial policies. You will ensure the department remains ahead of the curve regarding legislative changes and Australian Accounting Standards.
• Business Improvement: Identify and implement process enhancements that drive efficiency in financial workflows, championing "best practice" across the department’s global network.

About You

You will be an experienced Senior Finance Officer with proven experience and reliability in previous positions.

The successful candidate will possess:
