About the Role
Our client are a QLD state government organisation based in the Brisbane CBD. They are currently after a Finance Officer to come in and join their team on a temp contract opportunity until 29th May 2026 with possible extensions.
Candidates for this role must have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or similar
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Skills with Microsoft Excel, SAP, and other finance operational systems (Desirable)
As the Finance officer, you will play a key role in provision of financial transaction services and customer service. You will be involved in delivering a range of finance related services relating to corporate governance ensuring a strong focus on customer relationships and performance. You will also be assisting the team with monthly and annual financial reports preparation processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established standards.
Key responsibilities will include:
Financial Operations & Governance: Manage end-to-end transactional services, including AP/AR, corporate cards, assets, and tax returns, ensuring strict compliance and timely payments.
Strategic Advisory Services: Provide expert analysis and interpretation of legislation, financial policies, and costing trends to guide organizational decision-making.
Systems & Process Improvement: Research and implement best-practice financial systems and policies to improve operational efficiency and meet client needs.
Reporting & Reconciliations: Oversee the delivery of accurate monthly and annual financial reports and manage complex reconciliation processes.
Training & Capacity Building: Deliver financial system and process training to both finance and non-finance staff to improve departmental literacy.
Internal Controls & Management Support: Assist the Financial Services Manager in maintaining robust internal controls and discharging business unit duties.
About You
You will be an experienced Finance Officer with proven experience and reliability in previous roles.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Demonstrated experience in providing customer service is essential.
- Demonstrated experience in a dynamic and busy environment with an ability to meet conflicting deadlines is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain currency regarding financial management frameworks, guidelines, standards and practices.
- Skills with Microsoft Excel and Words, SAP, Tridata, and other finance operational systems would be highly regarded.
