If you are interested in becoming an aged care, a university degree or an apprenticeship is a great place to begin. For information on the qualifications and relevant education needed for the role, see the ‘education and qualifications’ section of our aged care job profile.
To work in aged care, you need educational qualifications in individual support. Pursue a Certificate III in Individual Support at a Registered Training Organisation. Some courses offer specialisation options, such as a Certificate III in Individual Support (ageing) or Certificate IV in Ageing Support. You also need a police check and first aid certificate.
