Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Business Partner (VPS Grade 5) to join a dynamic, customer-centric People & Culture team.
In this multi-faceted generalist role, you will provide end-to-end HR support, strategic coaching, employee relations case management, and payroll validation across the business unit. You will play a pivotal role in maintaining strong workforce capabilities, supporting leaders through organizational change, and embedding diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Business Partnering & Advisory: Partner with senior leaders to provide responsive coaching and advice on people management practices, stakeholder management, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives.
Employee & Industrial Relations: Lead workplace relations case management, providing technical legislative advice with a strong emphasis on early intervention, local resolution, and interpreting industrial instruments.
Operational HR & Talent Management: Oversee end-to-end recruitment, induction, and talent acquisition in strict alignment with public sector policies.
Payroll & HRIS Support: Collaborate closely with payroll to process and validate employment transactions, support annual remuneration reviews, and maintain HRIS systems.
Health, Safety & Wellbeing (WHS): Integrate health, safety, and return-to-work management into workforce planning and performance management.
Key Requirements & Experience
Victorian Public Sector Experience: Mandatory prior experience within a Victorian Government department or public sector agency.
HR Expertise: Proven track record acting as an HR Generalist and HR Business Partner covering ER/IR, case management, recruitment, policy design, and WHS/return-to-work workflows.
Legislative Knowledge: Strong ability to interpret and apply the Victorian Public Service (VPS) Enterprise Agreement and the Fair Work Act.
HRIS & Systems: Demonstrated experience with HR Systems; hands-on experience with Frontier Software / iChris / EPM21 / ER21 is highly desirable.
Citizenship & Security Clearances: Must be an Australian Citizen. The successful candidate must undergo a National Police Check and pre-employment check during contracting and be eligible to satisfy baseline / Negative Vetting 1 security clearance requirements to sucure permanent position.
