A leading regional organisation is seeking an immediate Technical Writer for a casual assignment (4 weeks with potential extension) based on-site in Bendigo.
This is an active, floor-focused technical writing role. Rather than sitting behind a desk, you will spend your time walking the production line, working alongside Quality and Operations teams to gather insights, and capturing step-by-step processes using photos and video to produce crystal-clear work instructions.
Key Responsibilities
Shop Floor Documentation: Walk the operational lines to observe, capture, and document standard operating procedures and workflows.
Core Machine Instructions: Draft detailed, step-by-step work instructions covering machine setup, computer operating procedures, quality checks, and normal machine operations.
Media & Visual Content: Utilize photos and video recordings on-site to build visually engaging, easy-to-follow process guides.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner directly with Quality and Operations staff to extract accurate operational information and incorporate SME feedback.
Document Control: Maintain digital filing systems, standardise legacy formats using company templates, and ensure proper version control.
Skills & Qualifications
Experience in technical writing, process mapping, or creating visual work instructions within a manufacturing, operational, or production environment.
Strong digital and computer skills, with practical experience using media (photos/videos) for documentation.
High attention to detail with excellent written English and documentation capabilities.
Strong communication skills to engage with shop floor operators, quality officers, and managers.
Familiarity with document control, version management, and process standardisation.
Full availability to start ASAP in Bendigo.
