Our Melbourne-based university client is seeking a dedicated Technical Officer to manage day-to-day operations within their chemistry-aligned laboratories. This full-time onsite assignment position is located at their City Campus and involves providing expert technical support for both research and teaching activities.
The Opportunity
- $62.48 per hour plus super per hour
- (Duration: ASAP – 17 October 2026 (Potential for extension)
- Location: City Campus (Full-time onsite)
- Hours: 36 hours per week
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and maintain the daily operations of chemistry-aligned laboratories within Physics and Geospatial Sciences
- Manage equipment calibration, maintenance, and chemical/gas inventories.
- Develop and implement SOPs, SWIs, and Risk Assessments.
- Provide technical training, advice, and inductions for laboratory users.
- Ensure full compliance with OH&S legislation and university safety policies.
About You
- Possess a degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Extensive laboratory experience, particularly in chemical waste and gas cylinder management.
- Strong knowledge of safe laboratory practices and OH&S requirements.
- Must hold a valid Victorian Working with Children Check.
