Are you a governance, legal, risk, or compliance professional looking to make a meaningful impact? We are seeking an experienced Senior Privacy Officer to join our Corporate Governance team for a contract role through November 30, 2026 + potential for extension.
In this role, you will provide senior specialist advice and end-to-end case management on a range of privacy compliance matters including escalated and complex cases. Working alongside the Principal Privacy Advisor, you will help champion lawful, transparent, and defensible decision-making while driving continuous improvement in privacy practices.
Key Responsibilities- Privacy Advice & Case Management: Provide risk-informed, high-quality advice on privacy legislation, policies, and best practices to support sound decision-making.
- Incident & Breach Response: Assist in assessing, managing, and escalating data breach responses, including obligations under relevant breach notification schemes.
- Investigations & Resolutions: Undertake investigations into complex privacy complaints and incidents, preparing detailed briefs, reports, and correspondence.
- Education & Continuous Improvement: Support the uplift of organisational processes and controls, and design and deliver privacy compliance training to internal stakeholders.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Translate complex regulatory concepts into clear, accessible language for diverse internal and external stakeholders, fostering collaborative working relationships.
- Project Leadership: Drive or contribute to branch projects, policy updates, and process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Relevant qualifications in Law, Business, Information Management, Public Policy, Governance, or a related discipline or equivalent practical experience in a regulated environment.
- Background: Experience in privacy, information governance, regulatory compliance, risk management, or administrative law (experience within the public sector or local government is advantageous, but transferrable corporate experience is welcome).

- Analytical & Problem-Solving: Proven ability to interpret complex framework requirements, gather information, analyse facts, and deliver practical, defensible solutions.
- Communication: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with a track record of producing high-quality reports, briefings, and stakeholder advice.
- Relationship Management: Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate across teams, negotiate outcomes, and present information clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
- Integrity & Discretion: High degree of personal integrity, ethical standards, and sound judgment when handling sensitive and confidential information.
