Specialising in bespoke new builds and high-spec fitouts up to $20M, our client operates across elite residential, commercial, and luxury hospitality sectors. To support their continued growth and uncompromising standard of excellence, our client is seeking a visionary State Operations Manager. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this pivotal role will serve as the strategic engine behind their Queensland operations, driving operational perfection, elevating multi-disciplinary project teams, and safeguarding the flawless execution that defines their brand.
The Role
As State Operations Manager, you will take full operational accountability for the Queensland business, overseeing project delivery, team development, commercial compliance, and client relationships across all assigned commissions.
Key Responsibilities
... Operational & Delivery Leadership: Oversee end-to-end construction delivery—from initial client consultation and buildability through to site establishment, design management, trade tendering, and final handover/DLP.
Team & Talent Leadership: Direct, mentor, and resource multi-disciplinary project teams (Senior PMs to Site Staff and Graduates). Drive recruitment, inductions, performance reviews, and career development alongside the CEO.
Commercial & Financial Management: Lead revenue/cost forecasting, manage project budgets, oversee invoicing and progress claims, ensure Security of Payment Act compliance, and review key contracts and insurances.
WHS & Quality Systems (IMS): Drive legislative WHS due diligence and Integrated Management System (IMS) compliance. Oversee safety plans, site establishment protocols, incident investigations, and bi-monthly Board reporting.
Business Development & Client Growth: Partner with the CEO on tenders, EOIs, and pitch strategies to win new business while building strong relationships with high-net-worth clients, industry networks, and key stakeholders.
Experience & Qualifications:
Minimum of 5+ years in an upper management role within the commercial construction industry, with a proven track record directly managing Project Managers across new build and fitout projects up to $20M.
A tertiary degree or trade qualification in Construction Management or a related field is preferred.
Current First Aid and CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain).
Software & Tech Proficiency: Advanced skill set in modern construction management systems and digital project tracking tools.

Advanced Competencies: Procurement & Contract Administration, Construction Knowledge, Leadership, Business Development, Time Management & Decision Making, Professional Writing, Presentation/Public Speaking, and Relationship Building.
Proficient Competencies: Construction Programming and Computer/Technology Skills.
Leadership Style: An enthusiastic, people-first leader who actively mentors, delegates, and promotes a positive culture rather than just being "the boss."

Salary Package: $280,000 – $300,000 + Superannuation
