The Role
As an Information Governance Project Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring legislative compliance through the effective administration and management of information applications, including Electronic Document Management Systems (EDMS).
This diverse role involves implementing, maintaining, and monitoring privacy and legislative frameworks, conducting comprehensive risk assessments, managing data rights and retention programs, and delivering key training initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Privacy & Risk Management: Contribute to the development, implementation, and maintenance of a comprehensive privacy framework in compliance with relevant privacy laws (including the Privacy Act 1988). Conduct regular privacy risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential security and third-party vendor risks.
- Data Rights & Loss Prevention: Manage and respond to data rights requests in a timely, compliant manner. Develop, monitor, and implement Data Loss Prevention (DLP) strategies and analyse data flows to detect potential data loss incidents.
- Information Systems Administration: Administer and maintain the EDMS and file analysis software to ensure minimal disruption to business operations. Maintain user documentation and troubleshoot system issues.
- Training & Compliance: Develop and deliver privacy awareness and application training programs for staff across all levels to promote a strong compliance culture.
Selection Criteria
Essential:
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with Electronic Document Management Systems (EDMS) with a focus on information governance practices and processes within a diverse and complex organisation.
- Experience in interpreting and applying legislation and policy frameworks to monitor and report on information compliance and action appropriately.
- Well-developed verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to liaise, problem-solve, negotiate, and interact with a range of stakeholders and vendors.
- Demonstrated research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Enhanced computer skills showing a strong attention to detail using advanced document management practices.
- Experience in developing and delivering training/awareness programs and promoting a culture of compliance within an organisation.
Desirable:
- A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience.
- A current A or C class driver's license.
