About the Role
The Head of Accommodation will report to the Chief Commercial Officer and forms part of the Accommodations functional area.
This role will lead the planning, contracting, allocation and delivery of accommodation solutions for official stakeholder groups and the Brisbane 2032 workforce across the Games footprint, including hotels, apartments, university accommodation, remote city operations, satellite villages and Torch Relay requirements.
The role is responsible for establishing and leading the Accommodation function, managing complex stakeholder and accommodation provider relationships, overseeing operational and financial planning, and ensuring accommodation services are integrated, inclusive, accessible and delivered to Games-time requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Accommodation functional area, including the development of the team structure, workforce plan, operating model, budget, delivery roadmap and Games-time readiness plan.
- Oversee the sourcing, negotiation, contracting and management of accommodation inventory, including hotels, apartments, university accommodation, remote city operations, satellite villages and Torch Relay requirements.
- Develop and manage accommodation allocation planning for official stakeholder groups, including allocation principles, processes, agreements, reporting and supporting systems.
- Lead relationships with accommodation providers, universities, tourism bodies, government partners and other delivery partners to ensure commitments, service expectations and operational requirements are clearly understood and delivered.
- Oversee stakeholder engagement and communications, including accommodation processes, policies, procedures, guides, site visits, familiarisations and issue resolution.
- Direct the development and implementation of accommodation systems, data, reporting, help desk arrangements and operational tools required to support planning and Games-time delivery.
- Manage the financial, contractual and reconciliation requirements associated with the Accommodations function, including budget planning, monitoring and reporting.
- Ensure accommodation planning is integrated with relevant internal functional areas, including Transport, Logistics, Workforce, Security, Venue Management, Technology and other Games delivery functions.
- Promote inclusive, accessible and equitable accommodation planning that considers the diverse needs of official stakeholder groups, workforce, media, officials, partners and other Games participants.
Skills and Experience
- Experience leading accommodation, hospitality, village, workforce housing or comparable complex service delivery programs in a major event, large-scale operational or multi-stakeholder environment.
- Demonstrated capability to establish and lead a functional area, including team formation, workforce planning, operating model design, budget management and progressive scaling toward delivery.
- Strong commercial and contractual capability, including experience negotiating, managing and reconciling complex agreements with hotels, universities, service providers or other accommodation partners.
- Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder environments, balancing competing requirements while maintaining clear communication, service standards and effective issue resolution.
- Strong leadership skills to build and develop own team as well as manage external suppliers and relationships.
- Operational planning experience across multiple sites, locations or delivery environments, with the ability to translate strategy into practical plans, systems, processes and readiness activities.
- Strong financial management skills, including budget development, monitoring, forecasting, reporting and reconciliation in a complex operating environment.
- Confidence working with systems, data, reporting tools and Microsoft Office products to support planning, allocation management, decision-making and executive reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across internal functions and external partners to align dependencies, manage risks and deliver integrated outcomes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear guidance, briefings, stakeholder materials and executive-level updates.
- Commitment to inclusive, accessible and respectful service delivery, with the ability to consider diverse stakeholder needs in planning and operational decisions.
