About the Opportunity
We are seeking a proactive and versatile Business Development & Operations Specialist to join our team in a dynamic hybrid role. Reporting to the Site Operations Manager and General Manager, this position bridges commercial growth with operational excellence within the cold storage, logistics, and supply chain sector.
You will actively pursue new market opportunities, nurture key client relationships, and collaborate closely with onsite operations to ensure client requirements, compliance, and temperature-controlled standards are consistently met.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
Business Development & Growth: Conduct market research, identify new commercial opportunities, and build strategic pipelines to expand client relationships.
Client Relationship & Negotiation: Engage directly with prospective and existing clients, deliver value propositions, negotiate agreements, and close deals for sustained revenue growth.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with operations teams to align business development strategies with site capabilities, customer requirements, and service delivery.
System & Data Management: Set up new customer details, product codes, and accurate rate structures in system databases (THOMAX / MYOB), ensuring complete record-keeping in CRM.
Cold Storage & Operational Liaison: Collaborate with site teams to monitor routine temperature/humidity checks, facilitate resolution of range deviations, and understand maintenance schedules to ensure service reliability.
Quality & Compliance: Maintain compliance with safety policies, Food Standards Australia NZ (FSANZ), HACCP, Approved Arrangements, and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) guidelines.
Reporting & KPIs: Maintain accurate meeting logs, upload new prospect details, manage KPI data entry, and submit structured weekly activity reports to leadership.
Qualifications & Experience
Industry Background: Proven experience in a similar sales, account management, or commercial role within the logistics, transport, or supply chain sector.
Core Skills: Strong customer service, negotiation, problem-solving, and influencing capabilities paired with solid analytical skills.
Technical Proficiency: Competent in Microsoft Office Suite, WMS (Warehouse Management Systems), and data entry precision; experience with systems like THOMAX or MYOB is highly regarded.
Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with temperature-controlled environments, FSANZ, HACCP, or Chain of Responsibility (CoR) guidelines.
Detail & Communication: Strong written/verbal communication, attention to detail, and mathematical capability.
