APS4 Participant Support Officer

We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and resilient individual to step into an APS4 Participant Support Officer role. You will play a pivotal role in assisting participants through their journey while balancing safeguarding, policy, and operational goals.

- Role Type: Full-Time Temporary Contract to 31st December 2026 (potential extension)
- Location: Newcastle NSW
- Pay Rate: $43.82 per hour + Super
- Work Rights: Australian Citizenship required
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform desktop reviews, data transposing, and administrative support using specialised systems.
- Respond to straightforward and moderately complex enquiries from participants, families, providers, and stakeholders.
- Manage daily workflow allocations, analyse priorities, and ensure service delivery time frames are met.
- Undertake suitability assessments for entry and exit into specialised planning streams.
- Action moderately complex planning tasks in accordance with legislation, policy guidelines, and procedures.
- Escalate complex matters appropriately and collaborate effectively within a team environment to share knowledge.
- Working collaboratively in a team environment, providing feedback, contributing to process improvement, team activities and on-the-job support for peers.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication with active listening and participant empathy.
- Policy Application: Ability to apply legislation, operational guidelines, and policy frameworks to resolve issues.
- Prioritisation: Strong time-management skills to balance competing tasks under general direction.
- De-escalation & Resilience: Calm, professional demeanour with proven skills in managing risk and de-escalating difficult situations.
- Teamwork: Collaborative mindset with a willingness to guide and support peers.
- Technical Proficiency: Competent in Microsoft Office suite and adept at learning complex database systems.
