About the Role
Are you an experienced Accounts Receivable professional looking for an exciting opportunity in Local Government? We are currently seeking a detail-oriented Debtors & Rates Officer to join a dynamic Financial Services team on a contract basis with an immediate start.
In this role, you will lead the end-to-end Accounts Receivable function, ensuring accurate debtor management, invoicing, receipting, and bank reconciliations. You will also have the opportunity to expand your skill set by providing ad-hoc administrative support to the Rates team.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee end-to-end Accounts Receivable processes, including debtor management, invoicing, receipting, adjustments, and direct debits.
Maintain the integrity of financial records through regular bank reconciliations and month-end reconciliation activities.
Coordinate debt recovery activities and monitor outstanding balances in line with council policies.
Respond to debtor and rates enquiries professionally, providing high-quality customer service.
Assist the Rates team with ad-hoc administrative support, routine correspondence, and data integrity checks when capacity permits.
Skills & Experience Required
Proven experience in Accounts Receivable, receipting, banking, and financial record maintenance.
Solid understanding of bank reconciliations, general ledger coding, and financial internal controls.
TechnologyOne experience is highly regarded (or proficiency using enterprise-level financial systems).
Experience within Local Government, rates, or property administration is beneficial, but not essential.
Excellent customer service, clear communication skills, and high attention to detail.
Certificate IV in Accounting/Bookkeeping, Business Administration, or equivalent industry experience.
