Following expansion into South Australia and the opening of our brand-new Adelaide CBD office, we are seeking experienced insurance and building professionals to join our growing team.
About the Role
The Home Assessor – Moderate Severity is a newly created position designed to bridge the gap between minor desktop assessments and complex on-road claims. Managing end-to-end moderate severity home insurance claims remotely, you will focus particularly on Fire and Escape of Liquid (EOL) events. In this role you will provide high levels of customer service, pride yourself on attention to detail and enjoy working in a busy environment.
Operating directly from our Adelaide CBD office, you will combine your passion for customer service and technical building expertise with claims management to assess damage, review repair quotes/scopes, liaise with building contractors, and guide customers through the restoration process.
Key Responsibilities
...- End-to-End Claim Assessment: Virtually review damage reports, photos, and scopes to determine causation, coverage under the PDS, and fair repair costs.
- Technical Scope & Costing: Evaluate building repair scopes against supplier quotes, leveraging strong technical knowledge of residential building principles (e.g., EOL and Fire damage).
- Supplier & Builder Negotiation: Engage with panel builders, restorers, and specialists (engineers, timber flooring consultants) to challenge and negotiate competitive, high-quality repair outcomes.
- Project Management: Track repair milestones virtually, ensuring quality work, site safety, and adherence to service agreements and regulatory frameworks.
- Customer Care: Support customers through stressful claim journeys, demonstrating best-practice decision-making for vulnerable or high-care customers.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for candidates who possess a balanced mix of technical building/restoration knowledge and solid insurance/claims assessing experience.
- Customer Focus & Problem Solving: Passion for providing empathetic, high-quality service and navigating complex claim scenarios.
- Residential Building / Estimating Experience: Strong background in residential building, renovations, scope creation, or trade estimating.
- Technical Insurance Knowledge: Understanding of insurance principles, PDS interpretation, and claims management workflows.
- Negotiation & Communication Skills: Proven ability to build relationships with builders and contractors while effectively negotiating costs and repair methodologies.
- Tech-Savvy: Confident using multiple digital platforms and reviewing virtual assessments, site photos, and technical reports.
