About the Role
Randstad is proud to partner with a prominent state government agency dedicated to supporting growing, diverse communities. We are seeking a strategic and adaptable Senior Advisor, Communications to join their collaborative Strategy and Partnerships team.
- Hourly Rate: $75 - $90 per hour + super
- Location: Footscray
- Contract Length: 5 Months
- Work Structure: Partnering with an internal staff member to divide and conquer specific project streams, acting as the primary communications lead for your assigned portfolio.
This is a dynamic, hands-on role where you will have the unique opportunity to influence high-profile projects right from their inception. You will split project portfolios with an internal team member, taking full ownership of the end-to-end communications lifecycle for your specific stream.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-End Campaign Management: Drive the conception, planning, and execution of integrated communications utilizing established organizational templates.
- Strategic Planning: Identify key messaging, potential risks/issues, audience segmentation, and actionable tables of tactics for highly regulated projects.
- Content & Brief Writing: Draft high-quality communication materials across a variety of channels (including internal communications, social media, and media briefs) while collaborating with specialized in-house subject matter experts (SMEs).
- Stakeholder & Regulatory Navigation: Partner closely with Project Leads and coordinate with internal leadership to secure necessary regulatory approvals.
- Team Contribution & BAU Handover: Facilitate and chair meetings, offer strategic insights to the broader communications team, and manage the post-implementation review before seamlessly handing projects back to the Business-As-Usual (BAU) team.
Key Selection Criteria
- Proven Strategic Advisory: Demonstrated experience developing and delivering integrated communication plans within a government, utility, or heavily regulated sector.
- Operational Project Experience: Proven ability to navigate complex organizational changes, data remediation, or enforcement/redress schemes.
- Exceptional Writing & Editing: High-level capabilities in producing plain English communications, utilizing standard tools (and leveraging AI/CoPilot assistance) to ensure accessibility across diverse channels.
- Stakeholder Influence: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships, manage up for regulatory approvals, and influence project design from inception.
- Qualifications: A tertiary degree in Communications or an allied field (or equivalent substantial industry experience). Note: A current Working with Children Check is required for this position.
