I am actively recruiting on behalf of a prominent State Government Client for a highly capable School Security Advisor. As the School Security Advisor, you will provide operational and specialist advice and support to schools. You will report directly to the Manager of the School Security work unit, which sits within the Infrastructure Services Division.

What You Will Do

In this dynamic and hands-on role, you will be the go-to expert for schools needing security guidance. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Providing specialist/technical information and advice on security to schools.
• Helping with completing a security risk assessment, identifying risks and recommending appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Promoting best practice for security at schools, including organisational policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Monitoring and investigating reported security incidents at schools to identify trends, and communicating with schools to provide assistance in developing strategies to mitigate risk.
• Assisting schools in the development and implementation of security related initiatives, policies, processes and systems for effective and efficient administration, which includes conducting on site visits to schools.
• Assisting with scoping for security fencing.
• Advising on specialist security measures and installations, such as CCTV and physical security patrols.
• Assisting schools with the management of their electronic intruder detector (alarm) systems, key systems, and closed-circuit television (CCTV).
• Planning and preparing materials, and delivering security training to schools through both school visits and workshops.
• Liaising with partnership agencies including the Queensland Police Service, to obtain technical advice and report data.
• Assisting in the review of design plans for new and refurbished facilities at schools, and providing feedback and advice on security installations.

To be successful in this role, you must meet the following requirements:

• Licensing: You must hold a valid Blue Card, as well as a current valid Queensland Driver’s Licence.
• Travel: Travel by way of employer-owned vehicles and plane, including overnight absences, will be a requirement of this position. Regional travel is required as part of this role.
• Physicality: Successful applicants will be required to walk for moderate distances/time periods in external environments on uneven surfaces.
