Randstad are seeking immediate applications from available and suitable candidates for the role of Metallurgist within a leading mining and resources organisation. Due to a 6 month trial and the commitment to improve performance on the project, this exciting opportunity is available.
Key responsibilities of this role include:
- Commissioning and operation of a Mineral Element Analyser (MEA) in accordance with client and CSIRO procedures
- Collection and preparation of samples for laboratory analysis to verify performance
- Provide assistance to the laboratory for processing of XRF, XRD and any other relevant samples
- Collation and analysis of lab results
- Reporting on the MEA performance and improvement opportunities to key stakeholders, particularly but not limited to chlorite analysis performance
- Preparation of samples for calibration of the MEA
- Development or improvement of operational procedures for the MEA where appropriate
- Any other activities or troubleshooting required to safely trial and validate the performance of the MEA
- Any other tasks as required
The successful candidate will possess:
- Tertiary qualifications in Metallurgy would be highly regarded, but not essential
- A minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role
- Demonstrated experience with trials of mineral analysis equipment
- Previous experience overseeing technical projects
- Previous BHP experience is highly regarded
- Excellent computing skills
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation and problem solving skills
- Self motivated, energetic with a positive, can-do attitude
For the first 2 months, this role will be on an adhoc basis. The role will commence as a set roster in early 2027.
