Integrated Master Scheduling & Baseline Control: Develop and manage portfolio Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) aligned to ASDEFCON frameworks. Define critical paths, monitor dependencies, interpret commercial constructs (milestones, LDs, payment events), and maintain baseline control across projects.
Portfolio Reporting & Performance Analytics: Lead high-level portfolio tracking and variance reporting using MS Project, MS Planner, and M365 tools. Deliver actionable insights on schedule performance, resource conflicts, and forecast impacts to key stakeholders.
PM Enablement, Training & Change Management: Train and mentor Project Managers on MS Planner for team-level execution. Drive consistent adoption of planning practices and support change initiatives to embed modern scheduling tools across the defence portfolio.
PMO Governance & Continuous Improvement: Establish, refine, and embed PMO scheduling standards, templates, and governance frameworks to continuously improve portfolio delivery efficiency and effectiveness.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Risk Mitigation: Facilitate interactive planning workshops to challenge assumptions, clarify dependencies, and proactively mitigate schedule risks affecting resources and budgets.
Key Requirements
Technical Scheduling & Systems Expertise: Advanced proficiency in MS Project (critical path analysis, baselining, dependencies) alongside deep experience using MS Planner, SharePoint, and the Power Platform for portfolio tracking and reporting. Open Plan and/or Primavera P6 experience also highly desirable.
Commercial Acumen & Data Analytics: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proven track record of translating complex commercial/contractual requirements into schedule logic and actionable portfolio insights. Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM).
Leadership, Communication & Initiative: Exceptional communication and coaching abilities to influence stakeholders, mentor PMs, and drive outcomes autonomously in fast-paced, evolving environments.
Key Experience
- Preferred Certification PMI-SP / PSP
- 10+ years’ experience in a similar role supporting large-scale programs, ideally involving multiple concurrent workstreams.
- Defence / ASDEFCON methodology exposure desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse and interpret program data, with proficiency in Microsoft Project, MS
Planner, Power BI, SharePoint and Excel for reporting, dashboards, and insights. - Experience working in PMO environments.
