About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Security (Venues and Villages), this role will drive the priority, long-term security initiatives essential for the successful delivery of the Brisbane 2032 Games. Collaborating with government, industry partners, and internal teams, you will lead critical workstreams spanning private security capability, screening operations, access control, and security technology to ensure comprehensive readiness across a geographically dispersed footprint.
In this highly strategic role, you will develop scalable solutions and partnerships that strengthen market capability and future operational readiness. By shaping procurement strategies, operational concepts, and robust governance frameworks, you will lay the vital foundations and delivery models required for seamless and secure Games-time operations.
Key Responsibilities
Security Planning:
- Lead long-term security initiatives by developing and maintaining comprehensive program plans, milestones, and reporting frameworks.
- Identify emerging risks and leverage industry trends, technologies, and lessons from major events to formulate practical mitigation strategies.
- Support the creation of operational concepts, planning assumptions, and specific security requirements for venues, villages, and festival sites.
Private Contract Capability:
- Lead collaborative initiatives with government and industry stakeholders to address capability gaps and strengthen the market readiness of Queensland's private contract security sector.
- Identify security requirements, operational constraints, and market considerations to provide actionable insights that drive long-term workforce planning and labour market activities.
Security Technology & Overlay Planning:
- Lead the planning and development of technical specifications for security infrastructure and overlay requirements, including screening, access control, and CCTV systems.
- Drive operational improvements through innovative technology and ensure these security requirements are seamlessly integrated into broader planning, design, and delivery activities.
Industry Engagement & Governance:
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with government, industry bodies, and security providers, representing Brisbane 2032 in key forums and working groups.
- Oversee assigned security workstreams to manage risks and deliverables, while supporting vital procurement planning for services, technology, and infrastructure.
- Develop robust security policies and governance frameworks, collaborating across internal teams to integrate requirements and preparing strategic briefings to support decision-making.
Skills and Experience
- Experience in security planning, project delivery, major events, critical infrastructure, public safety, defence or similar operational environments.
- Experience leading complex initiatives involving multiple stakeholders.
- Knowledge of physical and electronic security systems, including CCTV, access control, screening and perimeter security technologies.
- Experience working with security providers, technology suppliers, contractors and delivery partners.
- Experience supporting the planning, procurement or delivery of security services, technology or infrastructure.
- Understanding of security industry capability, market readiness and future security service requirements.
- Experience working with government agencies, regulators, industry bodies and external stakeholders.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
- Strong project management, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering a collaborative, inclusive and high-performing team environment.
