We currently have an immediate requirement for an Information Release Officer position based in Perth CBD.
Role Details
...Position: Information Release Officer
Location: Perth CBD
Duration: 6-month contract
Hours: Full-time, 38 hours per week
Pay Rate: $56 – $63 per hour + superannuation
Key Responsibilities
Receive, evaluate, and action applications for confidential information under the Freedom of Information Act 1992 (FOI Act) and related legislation.
Assess, analyse, and source departmental documents requested by external parties.
Prepare clear responses for applicants and liaise with internal and external stakeholders as directed.
Provide advice to internal team members, external agencies, and members of the public regarding information release.
Maintain strict security and confidentiality of sensitive documents, taking direct responsibility for their secure storage.
Ensure compliance with departmental corporate governance, information release policies, and statutory frameworks.
Collaborate across teams, support committee representations, and assist with general branch activities as required.
Mandatory Selection Criteria:
Legislative & Information Governance Knowledge: Experience processing or evaluating requests under the FOI Act or similar information release frameworks.
Document Assessment & Analysis: Demonstrated ability to review, analyse, and redact/prepare sensitive documentation for external release.
Stakeholder & Advisory Skills: Well-developed communication skills to provide procedural advice to internal teams and external agencies.
Records Security & Confidentiality: Proven track record of handling high-level confidential files and managing secure document storage systems.
Organisation & Compliance: Strong organisational skills to prioritise requests within statutory time frames while adhering to strict governance policies.
