About the Role
As Lead Estimator, you will occupy a destination leadership position responsible for guiding complex cost models and strategic estimating across high-profile civil and infrastructure projects.
This role requires a unique dual perspective: a strong, hands-on foundation in civil contracting combined with a high degree of familiarity with the consultancy environment. You will bridge the gap between contractor-level cost accuracy and client-side strategic advisory, playing a pivotal role in pre-contract strategies, tender evaluations, and project delivery frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Estimation & Analysis: Lead first-principles and benchmark estimating for major civil contractor works and complex infrastructure projects.
Strategic Client Advisory: Apply consultancy insight to guide clients through cost planning, value engineering, risk analysis, and procurement strategies.
Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with tier-1 clients, government authorities, contractors, and internal project leaders.
Commercial Strategy: Provide commercial rigour across the project lifecycle, evaluating market risks, constructability constraints, and supply chain dynamics.
Team Leadership: Mentor and develop junior cost planners and estimators, fostering technical rigor and high quality standards across all deliverables.
What You Bring
Civil Contractor Experience: Proven track record in cost estimating, budgeting, and commercial management within a civil contracting background.
Consultancy Familiarity: Prior experience working within, or closely alongside, a professional services/consultancy framework, with strong client-facing advisory skills.
Technical Expertise: Exceptional understanding of first-principles estimating, civil constructability, staging, and procurement frameworks.
Commercial Acumen: Outstanding analytical abilities, market insight, and stakeholder negotiation capability.
Essential Background & Experience:
Civil Contractor Background: Solid hands-on experience in first-principles cost estimating, budgeting, constructability, and tender management for civil engineering/infrastructure projects.
Consultancy Exposure: Prior experience or strong familiarity operating within a professional services/consultancy framework with client-facing advisory skills.
Commercial Acumen: Expertise in procurement strategies, value engineering, risk analysis, and market pricing dynamics.
Relevant Qualifications: A tertiary degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or equivalent industry experience.
Why Apply?
Independence: Work for a firm where decisions are made locally by the people who own the business, free from bureaucratic friction.
Iconic Pipeline: Lead high-profile civil projects that define the "built environment" of our cities for generations to come.
Leadership Culture: A true destination role for an experienced estimator looking to cement their legacy within a highly respected global firm.
