Position Overview
We have an immediate requirement for an Estimator to start in the Cairns office. In this role, you will apply your technical estimating skills to produce accurate, tender/pricing-ready documentation for procurement, working collaboratively with a diverse team of trade staff, supervisors, and managers. You will be responsible for developing and delivering accurate cost estimates and comprehensive scopes of work for minor and medium works construction projects, ranging from individual trade packages to complex multi-trade project delivery, while ensuring all project specifications and client requirements are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Estimation: Develop and deliver accurate cost estimates and comprehensive scopes of work for construction projects.
- Documentation: Produce high-quality, tender/pricing-ready documentation and fee proposals for professional services.
- Financial Breakdown: Provide detailed pricing for labour, materials, and equipment to assist field staff and project delivery.
- Collaboration: Liaise with trade staff, supervisors, and managers to ensure project planning aligns with profitability and client satisfaction.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Relevant qualifications or significant trade experience (Carpentry or similar).
- Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, and Word) and estimation software.
- Strong analytical, technical estimating, and oral/written communication skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Work Health and Safety (WHS) principles.
- Current Open Class C Driver’s Licence (Queensland) and willingness to travel across the SEQ region.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Previous background in quantity surveying or tender preparation.
- Proven experience in construction programming and procurement processes.
- Advanced knowledge of Cost X or similar construction estimating software.
Additional Mandatory Requirements:
- Hold a Current Builders Supervisors Licence - Highly Regarded
- A current Open Class C Driver's Licence (Queensland) or equivalent.
- Criminal history check prior to appointment
- Current Australian working rights (Evidence will be recruited upon application)

They will display initiative, attention to detail, and have the ability to work autonomously and unsupervised whilst contributing to the wider team's objectives of ensuring service delivery exceeds expectations.
