About the Role
Are you a talented Hydraulic Engineer looking to take the next step in your building services career? We are seeking an ambitious Hydraulic Engineer (2–4 years’ experience) to join our growing consultancy team in Melbourne.
In this role, you will take ownership of hydraulic services design across a broad portfolio of projects, including commercial, residential, healthcare, and educational developments. Working alongside experienced engineers and directors, you will deliver efficient, sustainable, and fully compliant hydraulic solutions while continuing to expand your technical and project delivery capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Perform detailed design of hydraulic services, including sanitary plumbing, drainage, trade waste, cold/hot water supply, rainwater harvesting, and gas services.
Produce high-quality 3D BIM models and documentation using Revit Plumbing/Hydraulics.
Execute technical sizing and calculations for pumps, pipework, backflow prevention, hot water plant, and rainwater retention systems.
Collaborate closely with architects, structural engineers, fire/mechanical consultants, and contractors to resolve spatial and design coordination challenges.
Conduct site inspections, review contractor submittals, and assist with defect inspections and commissioning oversight.
Ensure designs strictly adhere to the National Construction Code (NCC) / Plumbing Code of Australia (PCA) and relevant Australian Standards (AS/NZS 3500 series).
What We Are Looking For
Experience: 2–4 years of professional experience in hydraulic design within an Australian building services consultancy.
Technical Software Skills: Strong proficiency in Revit is essential. Familiarity with AutoCAD and hydraulic sizing software/spreadsheets is expected.
Qualifications: Degree or Diploma in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, or Building Services) or an equivalent recognized trade/technical qualification in Hydraulic Design.
Technical Capability: Sound knowledge of Australian plumbing codes, water supply principles, drainage design, and trade waste requirements.
Career Ambition: A genuine desire to build a long-term career in building services, with a strong focus on technical precision and professional growth.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the confidence to liaise with clients, local water authorities, and site personnel.
