About the Role
Randstad is partnering with a key Federal Government department to recruit an experienced Communication Manager (EL1 Equivalent).
Operating with a high degree of autonomy, you will provide strategic advice and lead the planning, design, and delivery of integrated communication initiatives across major business areas. Sitting within a dynamic, high-performing governance and communications division, you will collaborate with specialists across media, digital, design, and strategy to amplify key messages, drive engagement, and deliver high-impact communication outcomes.
Role Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Communication and Media, your main responsibilities will include:
- Strategic Communication: Partner with internal business areas and senior leadership to design and deliver integrated internal and external communication strategies and plans aligned with operational priorities.
- Trusted Advisory: Act as the primary communications point of contact for allocated business functions, delivering authoritative advice and building strong stakeholder relationships.
- Content Development: Translate complex or technical information into clear, engaging, and audience-tailored products across multiple digital and traditional channels.
- Digital & Platform Governance: Oversee digital content management across platforms, managing publishing workflows and ensuring full compliance with Australian Government digital and accessibility standards.
- Team & Workflow Leadership: Lead, direct, and mentor a small team - setting priorities, managing shared mailboxes, and allocating resources to deliver high-quality outputs under tight deadlines.
- Evaluation & Continuous Improvement: Monitor, evaluate, and report on campaign outcomes to continuously enhance engagement and strengthen brand visibility.
Key Selection Criteria
- Current Australian Government Baseline Security Clearance mandatory.
- Demonstrated professional experience in a communication, public relations, or strategic engagement role within a complex organizational environment.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience administering and managing digital communication platforms (e.g., GovCMS, Confluence) including overseeing content publishing, workflow governance, and digital accessibility compliance.
