Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance & Repairs: Conduct comprehensive fleet mechanical services, scheduled maintenance, and complex repairs on heavy fire appliances and equipment.
- Diagnostics: Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults utilizing modern electronic diagnostic equipment and road testing.
- Compliance: Perform scheduled vehicle inspections to ensure strict compliance with National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) and Transport and Main Road (TMR) legislative guidelines, as well as the Queensland Transport Operations (Road Use Management) Act 1995.
- On-Call Roster: Participate in an after-hours rostered on-call service to provide urgent, critical maintenance and repairs for emergency fleet vehicles.
- Administration: Perform data entry and complete digital job sheets, updating parts inventories and listings via an electronic Fleet Maintenance System.
- Safety: Strictly adhere to all Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment and efficient service delivery.

What You Need to Succeed
- Qualifications: Possession of trade certification as an Engineering Tradesperson - Level 1 Motor Mechanic (Heavy Vehicle Stream), and/or extensive skills as a tradesperson in a heavy motor mechanic environment.
- Note: Applicants with skills, knowledge, or qualifications in similar light vehicle trades will be strongly considered, provided you are willing to update your certifications if successful.
- License: A current Medium Rigid (MR) driver's license (or the ability to attain one prior to appointment).
- Tech-Savvy: Comfortable using computers, electronic diagnostic devices, and fleet maintenance software.
- Clearances: Due to the nature of the work, you must be able to successfully pass a National Police Check and a comprehensive Drug & Alcohol test prior to employment.
