About the Role
The Communications Specialist will report to the Head of Communications and forms part of the wider Brand and Communications team.
This role is responsible for the execution of communications for internal and external purposes including ensuring the brand principles, key message and tone is reflected in all Communications materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the research and development of communications approaches and strategies that help support the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games messages.
- Write, edit, proofread and format internal and external copy and facilitate the correct approval processes for all content to enable a consistent message externally.
- Act as a subject matter expert for communications approval process and content library for Brisbane 2032.
- Develop communications databases and help identify improvements to improve databases over time. Use CRM tools and other reporting tools as required.
- Manage the public correspondence system, including coordinating responses, maintaining accurate records and reporting on correspondence trends.
- Support sentiment research activities, including providing insights to inform communications strategies.
- Produce reporting on communications and other campaigns to help decision making and future communications
- Support content development, optimisation and implementation for Brisbane 2032’s digital channels (website, email, social) and collaborate closely with the digital, brand and marketing teams to provide high quality communication content to support the work over the overall team.
- Research key topic areas and create quality briefing materials and external presentations including those aimed at senior executive audiences. ‘
- Support the development of brand aligned content in close collaboration with the brand and graphic design team.
- Collaborate with agencies to develop content for campaigns and activations.
- Providing communications content into the Brisbane 2032 stakeholder, media and community events and assist the events team as required to deliver external events.
Skills and Experience
- Excellent copy writing skills across all channels and audiences
- Experience in producing high profile external content including media releases, social posts and website copy
- Understanding of communications strategy and planning and ability to produce communications plans quickly and relevant to the situation.
- Excellent attention to detail and processes
- Strong team player who collaborates extensively with all teams creating involvement and understanding from other team members.
- Knowledge of CRM databases
- Knowledge of brand guidelines and application
- Experience of briefing agencies and working collaboratively with agencies
- Strong time management and prioritisation skills.
