Randstad has partnered with ALPA (The Arnhem Land Progress Aboriginal Corporation), a leader in First Nations community support and enterprise, to recruit a high-performing Chef Manager.
About the Role
Trading the city rush for the pristine landscapes of remote Arnhem Land, you will lead our commercial kitchen operations, manage local catering teams, deliver high-quality meals, and embed best-practice food safety. This role offers high autonomy and the unique opportunity to mentor local staff, upskill community members, and make a direct impact on community health and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily food preparation, menu planning, and meal presentation standards while adhering to client dietary requirements and budget allocations.
- Manage, supervise, and train kitchen personnel (Cooks and Kitchen Hands/Activities Coordinators).
- Maintain integrated Food Safety, Hygiene, and WHS plans, ensuring equipment compliance and infection control standards.
- Perform monthly stocktakes, manage supplier relationships, prepare wastage reports, and cost menus to maximise value.
- Develop therapeutic and culturally appropriate menus tailored for social events and seasonal community needs.
What You Will Bring
- Trade Qualification as a Chef with a minimum of four (4) years’ experience in production kitchen management or similar roles.
- Deep knowledge of food safety regulations, therapeutic and culturally appropriate meal preparation, and inventory management.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor team members, conduct training, and foster a collaborative environment.
- Capacity to work extended hours, manage physical demands in tropical conditions, and adapt to living in remote Aboriginal communities.
- Unrestricted Manual Driver’s Licence, NT Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card), and First Aid/CPR certifications (or ability to obtain).
